The Elénaril

The Elénaril are the distant offspring of the Círdan. Although sharing many physical attributes with them, they are thought to have been first moulded and infused approximately 18,000 years ago.

Culture

The Elénaril are separated from their common ancestors of Círdan by both spite and culture. While the Círdan were purists and normally dedicated Practitioners, the Elénaril expanded their horizons, becoming both Practitioners and Dilettants. Most commonly however they chose to serve as Wardens, Wild-Keepers and Animists, making them mostly despised by the Círdan. They are also thought to have encouraged and even brought on the birth of the New-Elven race in the material plane, though through unproven and unknown means.

Their deep calling to both their fellow kin and the service of previous generations makes them talented and gifted within the Faelar, and are often sought for their knowledge - though few have ever taught within the College of Mu.

Elénaril often have an unnatural connection with nature, flora and fauna, making them gifted Animists and Wardens - a responsibility not reciprocated by their distant cousins.

Appearance

Elénaril share many features with thier distant cousins, the Círdan. Their ears are often pointed or gnarled, their hair can grow extremely long, and their eye colour is commonly red - orange. However, their hair and skin colour is often mixed from dark to light. Their skin is often coloured with permenant markings and tattoos and they generally are depicted quite similarly to Círdan.

Unlike Círdan, they often find longer hair to be quite burdensome, and cut it short. Most Elénaril that are born Dilettantes also wear fauna in their clothing or hair as a sign of their native terrain and homes.

Most Elénaril possess a graceful, slender physique that is accentuated by their defined facial features. It is a mistake, however, to consider them weak or feeble, as the thin limbs of an Elénaril can contain surprising power. The coloration of Elénaril as a whole varies wildly, and often matches their surroundings. The Elénaril of a single community may all appear quite similar in size, coloration and stature.

Racial Features

Size: Elénaril range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.

Languages: You can speak, read, and write Agni and Elvish. Agni is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Agni literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other Faelar. Elves, believed to be offspring of Elénaril, adopted Agni, simplifying and spreading it throughout the world, making it a common language to be studied.

Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity score increases by 2.

Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision: Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim Conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in Darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in Darkness, only Shades of Gray.

Keen Senses: You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Ancient Ancestry: You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Trance: Elénaril don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
