As apposed to the physical body of an individual Faelar, their consciousness, destiny and power(s) were not determined by physical means. By way of a secret ritual - the preferred body was soaked in the starlight of a particular star in prime position. This Infuses the body with life, powers and a 'soul'. This is a necessary process to create all Faelar. The alignment and positions of the chosen stars used by the Faelar formed a constellation, shaped like a bow - running north to south. This constellation is known as the Bridging Constellation (see below).
Each star in the constellation has a twin nearby, and some have multiple planetoid bodies orbiting them. Faelar born under a star with a planetoid body in orbit are considered Grounded as one fraction of their infusion is apart of the material plane. Faelar who are infused under stars with no planetoid bodies are considered Ethereal in nature. Each star belongs to a certain wing of the wider Faelar culture and family.
One side, Practitioners, are highly magical based; and study, teach and practice magic daily. The practitioners are responsible for highly diplomatic matters of foreign and internal affairs - while also carrying out necessary rituals in preservation of negentropy. Practitioners are normally Ethereal in nature and are born under stars named after magical runes.
The other side of society, known as Dilettants, are normally Grounded in nature and are born under stars named after Token Patrons of ancient history and legend. They spend a large portion of their time studying, managing and living in the outside world. Their culture, in keeping with century old traditions, teaches to act as caretakers of the natural world and keep it alive indefinitely. They are highly skilled in the naturalistic professions and also in combat, training for decades to be the best - likening themselves to that of their Token Patrons, who were also highly skilled.
