The Círdan are considered to be the most pure-blood version of the Faelar. Counting back for more than 19 generations, it is believed that they were the first to be moulded and infused 23,000 years ago. They are today, still moulded using the same pure magical properties, closely guarded by the elder hierarchy of Círdan.
Most Círdan are proud of their purist heritage, and often choose to study close within their own circles. Some choose to grow their hair out indefinitely as a sign of their age and growing wisdom. It is not uncommon to see the elitist crowds with hair reaching below their ankles, tied neatly in braids. Círdan that bring shame to the heritage and culture are often exiled, having their hair cut off as a sign of their great failures. The majority of older Círdan choose to devote their life to the study of the arcane or the teaching of further generations - as their ancient birthrights grant them a proclivity towards the arcane arts.
Círdan tend to be tall and lithe, and almost supernaturally beautiful. Even a Círdan down on their luck will pull off their rags with grace and dignity.
The main physical distinction between Círdan and other Faelar is their skin color. Círdan tend to have very dark skin, sometimes reaching a pure charcoal black. Others have a range of dark grey colors, verging on dark bluish hues. You’ll also often see Círdan depicted with dark purple or even close to lilac skin tones.
Círdan eyes can be of literally any color, though bright red is the most common. They’re also commonly very bright or near white in color, which often leads to a misconception that they have purely white eyes with no iris. Finally, Círdan hair is usually a very bright color that contrasts with their skin. Silver, pure white, or pale yellow are all common hair colors.
Size: Círdan range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.
Languages: You can speak, read, and write Agni and Elvish. Agni is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Agni literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other Faelar. Elves, being (very) distant cousins of Círdan, adopted Agni, simplifying and spreading it throughout the world, making it a common language to be studied.
Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Charisma score increases by 1.
Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Keen Senses: You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
Superior Dark-vision: Accustomed to twilight forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Ancient Ancestry: You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
Trance: Círdan don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Círdan Magic: You know the dancing lights cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the faerie fire spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the darkness spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Círdan Weapon Training: You have proficiency with rapiers, shortswords, and hand crossbows.
